Busy day for Crew 7

Saturday December 3rd was a relatively busy day for the crews from Sterling. The crew from Quint-618 responded to a cardiac arrest. The crew performed CPR and utilized an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The patient regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital by the Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad. We have been told the patient is out of the hospital and doing well. Later that evening around 2300, just as the snow and ice began to accumulate on the ground, Engine-611 was dispatched for an auto accident at the intersection of Rt 28 and Sterling Blvd due to a high speed police chase. Engine-611 arrived on scene to find one patient unconscious and trapped. Engine-611 and Rescue Squad-615 quickly popped the door and removed the patient from the vehicle and turned him over to EMS crews. Finally, at 4:12 AM on Sunday December 4, units from Sterling, Fairfax County, and Ashburn were alerted for a reported house fire at 228 Environs Rd. Quint-618 arrived on scene to find a 2 story single family home with a 2 car garage with fire through the roof and coming from both doors the garage. The crew from Quint-618 quickly knocked the bulk of the fire down in the garage from the interior of the house while Engine-611 and Tower Ladder-611 operated on the 2nd floor opening up the walls and ceiling to check for any fire extension. One firefighter suffered minor burns to his arm but did not require transport to the hospital.
