Firefighters Participate in LPG Drills
Firefighters from Sterling and other parts of the county trained in practicals to deal with LPG (Liquid Propane Gas) emergencies as part of the Firefighter 2 course curriculum. AFFF operations were also covered so that firefighters could gain experience laying down a foam blanket to deal with such incidents as a fuel spill on fire.

Two separate attack crews advance lines onto the tank.

Firefighters Cabo, Rambo, Lloyd, and others follow Technician Lusk’s lead on the offensive.

Yet another 3 alarm fire in Reston
For the second time in less than two months, units from Sterling (specifically Crew 5) were sent to Reston to assist Fairfax County for a 3 alarm fire. This time E11 (Capt. Roman), E18 (Master Technician Morimoto), BC1 (Lamb) were dispatched at 1434 on Sunday afternoon to 11266 Fairwind Dr in Reston to assist with a townhouse fire that had spread to multiple units. Due to a mostly exterior attack, command decided the services of the third alarm were not needed and released both engines within 30 minutes of their arrival. Honorable mention should be given to Tower 11 (Lt. Firmin) for their road trip down to Chantilly to fill 415! Engine 415 was certainly suprised to see Tower 611 arrive at their doorstep instead of going to the fire. While all this was going on, the guys and gals back home were able to staff the remaining two pieces of apparatus (Q18 and W18).
