On Sunday July 16th at approximately 1300, the crew on duty made their way to Park View High School in support of a flag football game taking place between the Loudoun Sheriff’s and Fire Departments. The event was held as a fund-raiser for the Discovery Park Playground. With temperatures reaching near 100 degrees, the crew of Engine 611 provided some relief to the heat by turning the pumper into a giant sprinkler for the kids to play in.

At 13:15 an auto accident with entrapment call was dispatched for the entrance to Algonkian Park. M25, E618, CAPT 15, CAPT 18, RS15 and BC1 were all alerted and responded. T611 added on to the call. Units arrived to find a single vehicle accident with a 2007 model Pontiac Grand Prix on its side resting against a tree a significant distance from the roadway. Capt 18 established command and the medic unit made a rapid assessment of the single trapped patient, the driver. Based on that assessment, Air Care was dispatched to provide air transport and Q618 established a landing zone at Fire Station 18. The vehicle was stabilized and the injured driver extricated by removing a large section of the roof. The patient was transported by ground from Algonkian Park to Station 18 to the awaiting helicopter.
