On Saturday afternoon, crews from both Sterling Fire and Sterling Rescue responded to an auto accident near East Jefferson Road in Sterling Park.
Fire and rescue units arrived and Chief 15 established command. A basic sizeup determined that one car with one occupant had struck a tree at a high rate of speed, impacting mostly on the driver’s side. The driver was pinned within the wreckage.
Engine 11 deployed a hoseline to protect the scene and then secured vehicle. AC11 took charge of Operations. Personnel from Squad 15 began extrication of the patient with Engine 11′s crew backing up the work.
Engine 18 established a landing zone at a nearby school. After freeing the individual from the driver’s side area, the patient was turned over to Medic 15 for transport to the LZ where a MedStar helicopter was waiting.
